About the Department

The Department of Political Science and International Relations (SBUİ) at Hasan Kalyoncu University aims to train contemporary, innovative, and qualified political scientists and international relations experts needed by the public and private sectors and international organizations. With its strong academic staff and 100% English-medium approach to education, the department offers its students education at international standards.

Within the framework of the student-centered education model, importance is placed on developing entrepreneurship, leadership, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. Students' multifaceted development is supported through an interdisciplinary approach, applied projects, conferences, career events, and meetings held with sector representatives.

Within the department:

• A 100% English Undergraduate Program
• Turkish and English Master's Programs
• A 30% English Doctoral Program

are available. These programs enable students, starting from their undergraduate education, to specialize at the postgraduate level and to continue their academic development.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate individuals who, by achieving full integration with working life in the international, public, and private sectors, can follow developments at the national and international levels, comprehend political systems, are sensitive to change and ethical rules, are aware of their responsibilities to society, can define problems and analyze policies, can use available resources in the most effective way, are eager for lifelong learning, inclined to teamwork, entrepreneurial, innovative, and attuned to intercultural relations.

Education Program

The program has a flexible structure that students can shape according to their interests and career goals. 34% of the course plan consists of elective courses. Students take a total of 34 compulsory courses and 17 elective courses.

Co-Op (Applied Training in Industries)

In the 8th semester, students can optionally participate in the Co-Op program to gain work experience in Turkey or abroad. Through this practice, students have the opportunity to translate their theoretical knowledge into practice.

Graduation Requirements

In order for students to graduate:

• Successful completion of the compulsory and elective courses in the program,
• Completion of a total of 150 credits and 240 ECTS,
• A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00

are required.

Graduates gain expertise in the field of Political Science and International Relations and have access to broad career opportunities at the national and international levels.
