Graduate Education

At Hasan Kalyoncu University, master’s and doctoral programs are offered through the Institute of Graduate Education. Across health sciences, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, education and law, the Institute offers a broad portfolio of thesis master’s, non-thesis master’s and doctoral programs for graduates who aim for an academic career, wish to deepen their professional expertise, or want to stay current in their field.

Program Types

Thesis Master’s

An academically focused program consisting of coursework and a thesis, in which students learn scientific research methods. It is the foundation for an academic career and preparation for doctoral study.

Non-Thesis Master’s

A program made up of coursework and a term project, aimed at developing professional knowledge and skills with a practice-oriented approach. It is a flexible option for working professionals; some programs are also offered in distance-learning format.

Doctorate

The most advanced graduate level, comprising coursework, a qualifying examination and an original thesis, equipping students with the ability to conduct independent research.

Admission Requirements

The main documents and requirements for graduate applications are as follows:

  • Graduation: A bachelor’s degree for master’s programs, and a master’s degree in the relevant field (or an equivalent accepted by the program) for doctoral programs; documented with a graduation certificate and transcript.
  • ALES: An ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) score document is required for thesis master’s and doctoral programs.
  • Foreign language: A foreign language exam document (YDS or equivalent) is required for doctoral programs and for some thesis master’s programs.
  • Other documents: Copy of national ID, photographs, military service status document, residence certificate, and the approved printout of the online application form.

The minimum scores required (ALES/foreign language) and evaluation criteria vary by program and term. Registration is not accepted with missing documents, and documents are expected to be e-Government verified or notarized. Application Calendar

Graduate applications are generally opened separately for the Fall and Spring terms. The process follows a calendar of application, preliminary evaluation, academic/interview examination, results announcement and final registration.

Fees and Scholarships

  • Graduates of Hasan Kalyoncu University undergraduate programs who enroll in a graduate program receive a 10% tuition discount.
  • Discount opportunities are available for children of martyrs and veterans within the scope of the relevant legislation.
  • A tuition discount is provided for students with a disability rate of 50% or above.
