Cyber Security
Purpose of the Program
In today's world, where digitalization is rapidly increasing, the protection of information systems, network infrastructures, and corporate data has become more important than ever. The Cyber Security Program aims to train the qualified technical personnel needed by the sector, who have a command of fundamental and current technologies in the field of information security, who can analyze cyber threats, and who can identify security vulnerabilities and take the necessary precautions. The program aims for students to graduate as competent individuals in the field of cyber security by acquiring both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Educational Content and Learning Outcomes
The program curriculum is designed to enable students to build a strong foundation in the fields of informatics and cyber security. Throughout their education, students take fundamental courses such as Programming, Basic Information Technologies, Introduction to Cyber Security, Basic Mathematics, Data and Network Security, Cyber Attack and Defense Methods, Virtualization Systems, and Project Management. In the later semesters, they specialize in their field through the courses of Penetration Testing, Operating Systems Security, Auditing and Management of Security Infrastructure, Mobile Technology Security, Database Systems and Security, and Software Security.
Through this training, students gain competence in ensuring network security, analyzing system security vulnerabilities, detecting cyber attacks, performing security tests, managing data security processes, and carrying out corporate information security practices.
Practice-Oriented Educational Approach
To be successful in the field of cyber security, it is of great importance that theoretical knowledge be supported by practice. Within the scope of the program, students gain experience in analyzing and producing solutions to the cyber security problems they may encounter in real life through laboratory practices, scenario-based studies, and project development activities. Thus, upon graduation, students step into professional life as individuals with a command of the current tools and methods used in the sector.
3+1 Education Model and Vocational Training
The Cyber Security Program is conducted with the 3+1 education model, which aims for students to gain sectoral experience. Students, who receive theoretical and practical education at the university during the first three semesters, participate full-time in Vocational Training practice in enterprises in the fourth semester. During this process, students have the opportunity to gain experience in a real work environment by working in public institutions, IT firms, technology companies, data centers, network management units, and organizations operating in the field of cyber security. Thus, students become acquainted with the sector before graduation and begin their careers with a significant advantage.
Career Opportunities
Cyber security is one of the fastest-growing fields of our time and one with the greatest need for specialists. Graduates of the program have the opportunity to work in the IT departments of public institutions, in banks, telecommunications companies, software and technology firms, data centers, and organizations providing cyber security services. Graduates can work in network and system security, information security management, security operations centers (SOC), data security, penetration testing teams, and technical support units.
Opportunities for Transition to Bachelor's Degree Education through DGS
Graduates of the program can carry their academic careers to advanced levels by continuing their bachelor's degree education through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS). Graduates can transfer to related bachelor's degree programs, primarily the departments of Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Cyber Security Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems and Technologies, Management Information Systems, and Computer Technology and Information Systems. In this way, students have the opportunity to develop themselves both academically and professionally.
A Strong Career in the Digital World of the Future
In today's world, where the dependence of institutions and individuals on digital systems increases with each passing day, the need for cyber security specialists is also growing rapidly. Thanks to its strong curriculum, practice-oriented educational approach, and 3+1 education model integrated with the sector, the Cyber Security Program prepares its students for the digital world of the future and equips them with the qualifications necessary for a successful career in the field of information security.
