About the Program

The First and Emergency Aid Program of Hasan Kalyoncu University Vocational School aims to train composed and professional emergency medical technicians for the healthcare sector, with a strong theoretical background and a high level of competence in practical applications.

Our educational curriculum covers fundamental professional courses such as principles of emergency intervention, patient assessment, advanced life support, and resuscitation. In line with the dynamic nature of emergency health services, our students simultaneously acquire both theoretical knowledge and the critical practical skills that will save lives in the field.

Equipment and Practice Laboratories

One of the most important pillars of our educational quality is our Practice Laboratory, equipped with modern medical technologies. In the laboratory courses, actively conducted in both semesters of the first year, our students;

• Trauma management,
• Cardiovascular system emergencies,
• Respiratory tract and airway management emergencies

work with high-technology manikins, simulation devices, and medical training materials that offer the opportunity to enact real-life scenarios such as these one-to-one. In this way, our students consolidate their basic and advanced practical skills in a safe, controlled, and fully equipped environment before entering the clinical field.

Vocational Training, Internship, and Field Practices

Our program is built on a "practice-based" model that supports students in gaining the maximum level of professional experience before graduation. The activities carried out within this scope are as follows:

• Mandatory Summer Internship: At the end of the 1st year, during the summer period, students are required to complete a mandatory internship of 30 workdays.
• Vocational Training in the Workplace: In the 2nd semester of the 2nd year (4th semester), our students actively participate in vocational training practices at relevant health enterprises/institutions 5 days a week on weekdays.
• Field Experience: Through these field and Emergency Health Services (ASH) unit practices, which continue throughout their education, our students observe case management and ambulance systems on site; they develop their professional reflexes and graduate fully prepared for the sector.

Attendance Requirement and Discipline Rules

Due to the critical nature of our profession, which directly affects human life, attendance at courses and practices is essential in the First and Emergency Aid Program. The attendance limits applied so that students gain professional discipline and their learning processes are not disrupted are as follows:

• Theoretical Courses: A maximum absenteeism allowance of 30% is granted.
• Practical Courses: A maximum absenteeism allowance of 20% is granted.

If the specified absenteeism limits are exceeded, students are directly considered unsuccessful (absent) in the relevant course or practice.

Graduation and Career Opportunities

Our students who graduate by successfully completing the program earn the title of "First and Emergency Aid Technician.”

Employment Areas

Our graduates have a wide range of job opportunities and can actively work in the following areas:

• Emergency Health Services affiliated with the Ministry of Health (112 Command and Control Centers and Ambulance Services),
• Emergency Departments of State Hospitals and University Hospitals,
• Emergency Departments of Private Hospitals, Medical Centers, and Polyclinics,
• Private Ambulance Companies,
• Organizations required to maintain first aid and emergency response units, such as factories, construction sites, airports, and organized industrial zones.

Academic Advancement (Vertical Transfer)

Our graduates can complete their academic careers with a 4-year bachelor's degree by transferring, according to their level of achievement, to related bachelor's degree programs (for example; Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Nursing, Health Management, etc.) through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) administered by ÖSYM.
