Dialysis Program

The Dialysis Program of the Department of Medical Services and Techniques at Hasan Kalyoncu University Vocational School has a strong educational structure that integrates theoretical knowledge with practice, designed to train the qualified and well-equipped Dialysis Technicians needed by the health sector.

In the Dialysis Program, the aim is to train dialysis technicians who are committed to professional ethical values and have a high sense of responsibility and self-confidence, through education that meets professional and academic quality standards.

Duration and Content of Education

The Dialysis Program is an associate degree program lasting 2 years (4 semesters). Students qualify for graduation with a total of 120 ECTS credits. It has an education model that attaches importance to applied training, carries out all practices one-on-one with students in the laboratories, and reinforces theoretical courses with applied courses. Thanks to these courses, students graduate both with a strong academic foundation and with the qualifications to work effectively in the field.

Practice Laboratories

Applied laboratory courses are actively conducted in both semesters of the first year. In laboratory environments furnished with equipment, students receive applied training with the help of models. In this way, students learn basic practical skills in a safe, controlled and well-equipped environment before going out into the field.

Compulsory Summer Internship

In order to reinforce in the field the theoretical knowledge they acquired in the first year, students are required to complete an internship during the summer period following the completion of the first academic year (Semester II). The internship period is 30 (thirty) working days, and attendance is compulsory.

Theoretical and Clinical Education

In the first semester of the second year (Fall Semester), education is conducted in a mixed model. In addition to the theoretical courses in the curriculum, students take an active part in the field 1 day a week in order to gain professional experience. The practices are carried out in the Dialysis Clinics (in their own fields) of various hospitals located within the provincial borders of Gaziantep.

Vocational Training in the Workplace

In the second semester of the second year (Spring Semester), the aim is to raise professional skills to the highest level before graduation. Throughout the semester, students complete their professional practice by participating directly in clinical practices in the field every weekday. Vocational training in the workplace will be carried out, within the framework of protocols, in the Dialysis Clinics of hospitals and in Private Dialysis Centers.

Note: The allocation of internship/practice and workplace vocational training placements will be carried out within the framework of official protocols, in line with the quota planning of the Vocational School Internship Coordination Office and the hospitals' chief physician offices.

Attendance Requirement and Discipline

Attendance is essential in the Dialysis Program. Students are allowed to be absent from at most 30% of theoretical courses and up to 20% of applied courses.

If these limits are exceeded, students are considered to have failed the relevant course or practice. This rule aims to ensure that students acquire professional discipline and complete their learning processes without interruption.

Graduation and Career Opportunities

Students who successfully complete the program graduate with the title of “Dialysis Technician”.

Graduates can work in the Dialysis Departments of Public Hospitals and in Private Dialysis Clinics.

In addition, students have the right to transfer to undergraduate programs through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
