Edibe Sözen received her undergraduate degree in 1982 from Marmara University, International Relations Department and graduate degree and doctorate from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics. She worked as a full-time academic member in Istanbul University, Faculty of Communication in 1985-2006. She was invited as a visiting lecturer to Wisconsin University, “Communication Arts” department between 1991-1993 and she completed her post-doctorate. She had studies on young generations and women in Western European countries including Germany and the Netherlands between 1994-2000; she worked in the Board of Directors of Anadolu Ajansı between 2003-2006; she took part in “Neutral” group of Press Announcement Institution in the same years. She became Istanbul 1st Region Member of Parliament for 23rd Term from Ak Party. She was the member in Human Rights Investigation Commission, Grand National Assembly of Turkey and NATO Parliamentary Assembly Commission. She was General Chairman Deputy in Ak Party Media and Advertising Unit in 2006-2009. She was Headquarter Decision and Board of Directors of Ak Party between 2006-2017. She was a consultant in TEPAV (Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey) between 2011-2012. She started her full-time position at Hasan Kalyoncu University in 2012 and she was Rector Consultant and Rector Deputy. Currently carrying out her position as Dean of Faculty of Communication and Rector Deputy, Sözen was appointed as the member of Presidential Social Policies Board in 2018.
